  • Using Geographical Information Systems to Audit Efforts to Combat Money Laundering
    In June 2008, the Netherlands Court of Audit (NCA) published a report on its audit of the Dutch government’s efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. During its audit, the NCA used a geographical information system (GIS) to analyze and present its findings. In this article, we describe some features of a GIS, give an overview of how a GIS was used in the recent NCA audit, and introduce the NCA’s new knowledge center on the use of GIS in auditing, (International Journal of Government Auditing, July 2008: 6-12)

    INTOSAI’s Task Force on Accountability for and Audit of Disaster-Related Aid is searching for a global audit trail for tsunamirelated aid by developing strategies for the use of data captured through geographical information systems for planning, monitoring ,and auditing diasaterrelated aid flows.
