Knowledge Centre GIS and Audit

The Knowledge Centre GIS and Audit of the Netherlands Court of Audit accumulates knowledge on the application of geographical information systems (GIS) and of data derived from Earth observation systems with the purpose to use this kind of data in her audits of government policy. This knowledge is shared with other audit institutions and government agencies.

The Knowledge Centre GIS and Audit:

  • gathers relevant developments in the field of GIS and earth observation;
  • collects examples of the use of GIS and data derived from earth observation systems by other audit institutions;
  • develops a methodology for using GIS in auditing;
  • develops training and course material that can be used by audit institutions;
  • supports audit projects of the Netherlands Court of Audit and other audit institutions;
  • builds and extends a network of experts in this field of expertise.
