Demographic basis for ageing policy

Dutch ministries are auditably and consistently mapping out the future demand for housing, pensions and care, building on forecasts made by Statistics Netherlands. The ministry of housing, spatial planning and the environment has drawn up plans to meet the demand for dwellings that are suitable for the elderly, while the ministry of social affairs and employment has formulated ways to ensure that the old age pension remains affordable. The ministry of health, welfare and sport is uncertain about the rate at which demand for care will increase. This report considers a preliminary study carried out in anticipation of further investigation by the Court of Audit.
