EU Trend Report 2010: improvement in regularity of EU expenditure but insight into impact remains limited

Small improvements have been made in the regularity of the use of EU funds and accountability for them. There has been little improvement, however, in the insight available into how the funds are spent in the EU member states. The Court of Audit draws these conclusions in its EU Trend Report 2010. Insight is also limited into the effectiveness of policy, for example, in the field of European and national measures to combat counterfeit goods. The European Commission, the Dutch Ministers of Finance and Economic Affairs, and Customs do not provide information on whether the policy goals on counterfeit goods are being achieved.
